Today I Start Class--Im officially re-studented

I'm excited--today I start my fiction class & am in good hopes about it. Atleast Mary Martha will be in the class too, & she will certainly push me to write a lot.

Afterwards I go straight to work. I worked Monday 80s nite last nite at the bar. My Tuesdays officially belong to Metalhead: Tucson's only 80s coverband. Luckily my ars loves the 80s or else I guess Id be half mad.

As you can tell Metalhead guys for reals are trapped back in the day. The do a good Bon Jovi, Def Leopard, etc, etc. I dance around mostly, have a good ole time. Life certainly is not plain these days.

Favorite Looks of Sunday

At this years Golden Globes, fashion was its typical highs and lows. I certainly did not expect Sandra Bullock to make such expert choices (prob because she didn't!). She should PAY her stylist tenfold, cause she looked fabulous & could never pull that off herself. She's humble too, which is prob the best accessory a girl can wear. Other favs: Marion Cotillard, Jennifer Morrison. Mimi Carey was the most ridiculous--some things never change. Chace Crawford ew. Chloe Sevingy was just awful, not in dress, but in personality, sauntering down that red carpet like a straight diva & she aint. Who is or was a diva? Nan Kempner.

Other than my sugar, no one looked better on Sunday than Brett. Of course. We went down to Tubac to have brisket with Pops & Sherry & Amy & Jules. Was fun! The Big Love Season Premiere was very well-written. Avatar cleaned up at the Globes!

NY is the saddest state --

With apologies to Jay-Z, the current Empire State of Mind might not be something to brag about—at least according to the recent study ranking New York as the least-happy state in the nation. In the nation! Which seems, to us, rather unbelievable. Yes, nearly half of the state’s residents live in a city that’s inordinately stressful (expensive, noisy, crowded, pushy). Yes, it’s hard to find a peaceful place to sip coffee, much less live. But on the flip side—everything else!

my sugar's the sweetest

so, today was figuring up to be much like the rest--do this, do that: folks coming to snake the drain, need to workout, pick up dry cleaning, grocery store, make potato soup, stuff for tarpaulin sky, email jim harrison's secretary (okay, not-so-regular!) so she can relay my msg via fax (he does not use the computer at all!), haircut with miss maria (talk about sister mimi carey drunk at some award show, how ridic she looks wearing matching w/ nick cannon, cute football players, every imp show on bravo, esp ones dealing with hair: it is so very important, etc...).

i got home round 630 from some errands, rounded the corner & what do i see in the bedroom corner? neil had conspired with noah s & got for me my black-eyed heifer cover! i am such a lucky happy girl!

there's sasstrid monkeying around. there's grita in the basket!

Also, go see Avatar in 3-D

Honestly, I had no urge whatsoever to see this film. And it turned out to be the best movie I had seen in a long time.

Black-Eyed Pea Luck

Every good southerner knows that on New Years Day you eat plenty of black-eyed peas.

When you do you are said to have boundless luck in the new year, all year.

N & I had--brown sugar glazed salmon, fresh squash, sweet corn, & a black-eyed pea & bell pepper salad. It was delish. I think it made me lucky as all hell already.

Found out today from one very lovely woman in my corner (if the world is one great big ole boxing ring), MMM, that Jim Harrison agreed (100%) to blurb my book, Black-Eyed Heifer. Thanks, black-eyed peas.

This is the coolest coolest. Jane, Brenda, Jim Harrison. Yip!
